Southampton are interested in another Chelsea starlet, Tino Anjorin.
Southampton are keen to agree a surprise permanent deal for attacking midfielder Anjorin this month.
Following their takeover by Sport Republic earlier this month, Sportsmail reported that Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl hoped to add a goalkeeper and No 10 option to his squad in the summer but, with their new investment, those plans could be brought forward to the January window.
Southampton are keen on signing Tino Anjorin who is currently on loan at Lokomotiv Moscow
Anjorin, 20, has now emerged as a target and Southampton are exploring the possibility of landing Anjorin before next Monday’s transfer deadline.
The 20 year-old is halfway through a loan to Russian Premier League side Lokomotiv Moscow who he joined last summer.
Ralf Rangnick, Lokomotiv’s sports and development manager at the time was a key factor in the move but has since left to become Manchester United’s interim manager.
Anjorin is currently on the books at Chelsea where he made his Premier League debut
The Russian season is currently on a break until the end of February while Anjorin is back at Chelsea recovering from a minor injury.
Anjorin is due to return to Lokomotiv for the rest of the season but the two clubs can agree to end the agreement if it suits all parties.
The link between Southampton and Chelsea has grown stronger over the last year.
Current Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick was influential in Anjorin’s Lokomotiv signing
Southampton signed right-back Tino Livramento and centre-back Dynel Simeu from the Londoners and also took striker Armando Broja on loan.
They would like Broja to extend his stay at St Mary’s though are relaxed about the situation as his loan does not expire until the end of the campaign.
If they can’t secure Anjorin this month they are also willing to revisit the situation at the end of the season.
