This season has been promoted into Northampton’s first-team, making 17 appearances, though only three of them from the start, and scoring twice.

One of the goals was against Southampton’s under-21s in the EFL Trophy and they have identified Chukwuemeka as potentially one for the future who could, initially, go into their B-team setup.

Belgian league leaders Brugge have been alerted to Chukwuemeka – older brother of Aston Villa starlet Carney – in their search for promising young talent they could develop while he has also attracted interest from Norwich and Bournemouth.

Chukwuemeka has yet to sign a professional contract with the Cobblers, increasing his appeal to his suitors as he can be snapped up for a small compensation fee.
