Son Heung-min says he ‘loves’ Antiono Conte’s passion on the sideline and insists the Tottenham manager’s energy is ‘very helpful’ for the players on the pitch.
Son helped Tottenham beat Brentford 2-0 on Thursday evening after scoring their second goal of the game following a 12th-minute own goal from right wing-back Sergi Canos.
Speaking after their win, Son said that the squad were clear on Conte’s ‘expectations’ heading into the game but admitted the manager’s enthusiasm gave them the ‘boost’ they needed to win the game.

During his post-match interview, Son reflected on the Tottenham manager’s influence on the squad. He said: ‘The expectation [before the game] was everyone moves with the ball and without the ball.
‘Everyone knows where to be, everyone should be where he asked for and every player should know what to do.
‘The detail really helps and gives us a boost. We have a lot to improve but there is a long season to go.

‘He [Conte] is so passionate, I love it. I want to play with passion on the pitch and off the pitch. It is really important even on the pitch he is so passionate, it is really helpful.
‘With our new gaffer we have had three games and there is lots to improve. I don’t want to talk about the future, saying is always easy but we have to prove on the pitch.
‘Now we have to prepare for Sunday and if we take three points it can be an unbelievable week.’
When asked to reflect on his goal, Son credited his team-mates for making it ‘easy’ for him.

Son said: ‘It was a great performance, obviously the goal was beautiful but the rest of my team-mates did it, I did the easiest job for the great combinations.
‘We played with a great performance, from the start of the game we wanted to make it a horrible night for them because this is our home and luckily we did it really well. I think we did a great, great job.
‘When we play short, they must come out one or two players which means we have more options in the box. I believe in my quality with the one v one situation. Luckily we scored, it was all about practice and luckily we did it well.’
