Solskjaer receives "personal apology" from Glazers amid Man Utd fan protests
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed he has been "communicating with the owners" and has received a personal apology from the Glazer family.
Fan protests have erupted around Old Trafford since the Glazer ownership signed United up for the controversial European Super League involving 12 elite clubs, which eventually folded after a resounding negative response from fans and media.
Solskjaer pleaded with fans to calm down when they blocked entrances to the club's training ground but on Sunday, more supporters stormed the Old Trafford pitch.
As a result, United's game with Liverpool was postponed with a rescheduled date yet to be confirmed by the Premier League.
“It was a difficult day for us," said Solskjaer.
"Of course we wanted to play, to beat Liverpool for the fans. Our job is getting good results on the pitch. But as I said before the game, we have to listen, to hear the fans' voice."
Violent actions were carried out inside the stadium where six police officers were injured, including one with a fractured eye socket.
Bottles were thrown, flares were set off and damage of United property occurred resulting in one arrest being made for an unconfirmed offence.
“It's everyone's right to protest but it has to be in a civilised manner," Solskjaer added.
"But unfortunately when you break in, when police officers are scarred for life, that's a step too far. Then it's a police matter, it's not about showing your opinions anymore."
Fans have also taken aim at United sponsors after supporters left purposefully bad reviews about new kit sponsors TeamViewer on Trustpilot.
Solskjaer meanwhile will focus on Thursday's Europa League semi-final second-leg against Roma, even though they have a comfortable 6-2 advantage.
“Of course my focus has to be on the results. But you don't have to be a rocket scientist to see we have challenges to be dealt with," said Solskjaer.
"Other individuals have started communicating with fans' groups, which is going to be massive for us going forward.
“I know our fans would want a team that is likeable. I have been communicating with the owners and got an apology personally. It is a difficult situation for me, because I have to focus on the football.”
