Soccer AM host ‘actually hurt’ as ex-Prem star crushes his ankle on live TV

Ex-Liverpool and Newcastle ace Jose Enrique incidentally left Soccer AM's Curly in agony after falling on top of him during their carpark volley challenge on Saturday morning.

James Kirtland, also known as Curly, was left clutching his ankle on live TV and even chucked his headset to the ground while other staff approached him.

With host John Fendley saying midway through the segment that his colleague was 'actually hurt' he called for fans to have respect before asking if it was Enrique that crunched him.

The concerned Enrique had joined the Bolton fans in their volley challenge against Plymouth supporters, falling over the staff member who had been handing balls to Tubes (Peter Dale).

With Enrique tumbling over Curly as well as the pile of footballs, the former pro was able to get up and continue in the challenge while having concern for the staff member who stayed down.

One fan said: "Hahahaha Jose Enrique has just nailed someone on soccer AM on volley challenge hahaha."

A second added: "Jose Enrique has just killed a member of the soccer am crew. Can’t believe they’re taking this away from us."

A third continued: "Any notice Jose Enrique just took out the man on soccer am and actually hurt the lad."

Just moments before the injury, fans of both the clubs as well as Jimmy Bullard had dived into a huge bundle – which didn't lead to any accidents.

A long-time employee on the Sky Sports show, Curly and his colleagues recently found out that the show was under review – with many fans calling for it to continue after this week went wrong.

Fenners had said on social media: "There’s been a lot of coverage in the past few days about Soccer AM so I wanted to clarify the situation.

"Sky has made a proposal about next season and we will go into a consultation process. No decisions have been made at this stage and no one has been made redundant."
