Sky Sports MNF’s best moments of 2020 including Roy Keane vs Jurgen Klopp spat

Sky Sports will kick off their Monday Night Football broadcasts for 2021 when Liverpool travel to Southampton.

The show aired some of the biggest games of the season last year, including Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Chelsea in February and the Reds' 3-1 win over Arsenal in September.

But it is events that have happened inside the studio that have more frequently caught the attention of viewers.

Hosted by David Jones, it is usually the scene of Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville furiously debating the weekend’s games.

While United legend Roy Keane has also made memorable appearances in his first season with Sky Sports.

And the cast of pundits produced some hilarious moments in 2020, which Daily Star have compiled…

Keane vs Klopp

Liverpool were well into the swing of things when they saw off the Gunners 3-1 at Anfield.

While it was all smiles for the champions, Jurgen Klopp took the chance to clear up some comments made on MNF that night by Keane.

“Did I hear it right that Roy Keane said we had a sloppy performance tonight,” he asked in the post-match interview.

With Carragher laughing, the former midfielder desperately tried to defend his position while the Reds boss suggested it was about another game.

The awkward encounter live on TV is well worth a re-run here.

The Pogba debate reaches it’s peak

A regular topic of conversation between Carragher and Neville has been the performance of Paul Pogba at United.

While the Liverpool legend has urged the club to “get rid”, the former Old Trafford defender has supported the Frenchman.

But it was too much for Carra when his colleague made the midfielder his “One to Watch” for 2021.

As Neville said it was part of his hope that Pogba “would drive United to the title”, all his pal could do was laugh before making a funny face at the camera.

Coady chaos

Sky Sports were on duty when Wolves saw off promoted side Leeds 1-0 at Elland Road.

But the highlight of the night was Conor Coady’s post-match interview, first of all revealing his surprise at finding out Max Kilman had been awarded Man of the Match.

Hysterics from Jones, Carragher and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink left the defender in his own fit of laughter.

And they were at it again when the Liverpool hero tried to tempt the Scouser to Anfield, with the Wolves captain saying: “I can’t believe you just put this on me here.”

Cue the funniest post-match interview of 2020!

Keane vs Carra II

United’s former captain took centre-stage as he worked with Carragher for the first time since their furious debate on the Red Devils following a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool.

But the Irishman was left with a frown on his face when they compared Liverpool’s title-winning XI to the treble winners of 1999.

Carra decided to put Sadio Mane in his squad over Ryan Giggs based on his goal-scoring record for the season.

All Keane could do was sit back with a baffled look on his face, making grumbling noises.

It may not have been a moment of fireworks but it left viewers in stitches.

2020 also saw former Manchester City player Richards get his breakthrough into punditry, bringing his larger-than-life personality to the screen.

But he was almost late for a MNF debut ahead of the Cityzens’ first game of the season vs Wolves.

Footage showed the former England international sprinting onto the set with loose shirt and tie – two minutes before going live.

As Carragher and Jones sat laughing, Richards revealed that he had been locked in his dressing room for an hour and a half.

But, as the former defender always does, he laughed it off brilliantly.
