Six best available managers right now for Man Utd with Ten Hag under pressure

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has a world of pressure on his shoulders.

Ten Hag, 53, watched his United flops lose 3-0 at home to Bournemouth in what was their seventh Premier League defeat of the season. The loss came after Daily Star Sport was banned from thin-skinned United's press conference on Wednesday having reported the former Ajax manager had lost half of the dressing room.

The Red Devils have endured a wretched start to the season which has also sees them on the brink of Champions League elimination and already out of the League Cup. After the Cherries put even more pressure on Ten Hag, Daily Star Sport considers six other managers are are currently free agents, should United choose to look for a replacement.

Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte has been on a break from management after his explosive exit from Tottenham Hotspur last season. The Italian was sacked soon after he furiously ranted about the club and its ownership in the wake of a disappointing 3-3 draw with Southampton.

However, having won the Premier League at Chelsea and four Serie A titles across spells with Juventus and Inter Milan, Conte knows how to build a title-winning side. United explored the opportunity of signing him when they were contemplating sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but Tottenham nipped in ahead of the Reds to get his signature.

With the Red Devils looking terrifyingly exposed every time they take to the field, they could do worse than defence-conscious Conte.

Julen Lopetegui

Who do you think would be a good replacement for Erik ten Hag, if Manchester United choose to sack him? Let us know in the comment section below

Days before the new Premier League season started, Julen Lopetegui resigned from his post at Wolves, after disagreeing with the club's transfer strategy. Nevertheless, Lopetegui is an extremely experienced manager who has an impressive CV.

While his reign at Real Madrid was embarrassingly short, he has had previous success with Porto and Sevilla, the latter of which he won the Europe League by beating United in the final.

Graham Potter

Graham Potter was dealt a rather difficult hand at Chelsea, having to deal with multiple injuries, multiple players running down their contracts and a side who were bolstered with around 20 players signed across two transfer windows. However, his excellent spell as manager of Brighton will still be fresh in the minds for many around the Premier League.

Considering the doom and gloom currently around the ground, Potter's more laid-back, empathetic approach may be appreciated by some at Old Trafford. And the 48-year-old would come with the added bonus of having personal links with several talents United may fancy when the transfer window rolls around.

Zinedine Zidane

The legendary Frenchman has been without a club since he left Real Madrid in 2021. As well as an iconic playing career, Zinedine Zidane also has a record of winning two titles in La Liga and three Champions Leagues as manager of the Spanish giants.

He has experience of working with the biggest names in world football and his reputation on and off the pitch would instantly command respect. Zidane's stardust and aura may bring the current crop into line and push United in the right direction.

Joachim Low

Considering he has not been involved in club football since a brief spell at Austria Vienna two decades ago, Joachim Low may represent something of a risk. However, this is still a Coach of the Year-winner who has a World Cup to his credit and was named Manager of the Decade (2011-20) by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics.

It's been two-and-a-half years since Low last held a coaching position, and the manner in which his 15-year reign as Germany boss ended doesn't exactly flatter. But if a no-nonsense approach is what's required to whip United into shape, there may be no better option currently available in today's market.

Hansi Flick

And if the older model doesn't work, go with his replacement. Hansi Flick left his role with Germany after a humiliating 2022 World Cup saw them exit the competition's group stages for the first time in their history.

Nevertheless, his incredible treble-winning campaign at Bayern Munich in the 2019/20 campaign is a major tick on the CV. He followed that campaign with a second Bundesliga title and the Club World Cup, adapting quickly in one of the most demanding atmospheres in football, similar to the task that would await in Manchester.
