Sir Alex Ferguson was "scary spy" and knew where his Man Utd players had dinner
Ex-football boss Sir Alex Ferguson could have enjoyed a rather different career as a spy.
Patrice Evra – who used to captain Manchester United – claims it was “scary” how much intelligence he had on his men.
He tells Channel 4’s The Big Narstie Show: “Ferguson knew everything. I remember once I went to an Asian restaurant and I had training the next day.
“When I got there he said ‘Patrice? Did you have fun at that restaurant? Did you have dumplings and stuff?’
”He knew the main courses. He knew everything about everything. He has spies everywhere."
Evra signed for United in 2006 and went on to make 379 appearances for the club before leaving for Juventus in 2014.
The Frenchman won five Premier League titles, three League Cups and the Champions League during his time at Old Trafford.
Evra joined the club as a relatively unknown entity but quickly became one of the first names on Ferguson's team sheet.
Despite taking a year or two to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League, he grew into a vital cog in United's last truly great side, reaching three Champions League finals in four years between 2008 and 2011.
Following a match against Liverpool in October 2011, Evra claimed that he had been racially abused several times by Reds striker Luis Suarez.
A month later, Suarez was charged with racial abuse by the FA and hit with an eight-match ban a month after that.
The two players crossed paths again in February and failed to shake hands with one another during the pre-match formalities.

After the game, which United won 2-1, Evra decided to celebrate with the fans inches away from Suarez, prompting an angry response from the Uruguayan's team-mates.
Earlier this week, Evra revealed that shortly after their initial altercation, he spotted Suarez out shopping in Manchester, and considered attacking him before realising he was with his wife and kids.
"One day I was walking in Manchester in Deansgate and my brother said: 'oh it's Luis Suarez over there', Evra told the Diary of a CEO podcast.
"I looked at him and I was like 'that's it, this is the moment'.
'And he walked, and behind him I saw his kids and his wife. And I turned my back. I was like 'if you do something to him you can't do this in front of his family'.
"So I don't regret it because I think it would have ended up bad. I did nothing that day."
