Sir Alex blasts Arsenal fans should be “ashamed” over Arsene Wenger treatment
Sir Alex Ferguson has hit out at Arsenal fans over the way they treated Arsene Wenger during the Frenchman's final few years at the club.
The rivalry between Wenger and Ferguson is arguably the biggest in Premier League history, with the two going toe-to-toe with one another for the title for the best part of a decade.
After retiring in 2013, Ferguson left Old Trafford an unrivalled hero, and arguably the biggest icon in Manchester United's history.
Sealing his 13th Premier League title during his final season in charge, the Scot well and truly ended his career by riding off into the sunset, though the same can't be said of Wenger.
In spite of his history with the club, Wenger left Arsenal a thoroughly divisive figure.
While many fans continued to sing his praises, others felt the Frenchman had outstayed his welcome, and large sections of the fan-base had been voicing their displeasure for years by the time he quit.
Though Ferguson feels his old nemesis was hard done by.
"He kept them in Europe every year and yet he was criticised. The supporters should be ashamed," Ferguson said during the 'Arsene Wenger: Invincible' documentary, which is set for release on Thursday.
Wenger won three league titles during his 22-year stint in north London, the crowning achievement being guiding his team to an undefeated domestic league season in 2003/04.

"Arsene and myself are dinosaurs, but we didn’t do so badly," Ferguson added.
"I won 13 leagues but I was never near going through a season undefeated. The achievement stands above everything else, and it was Arsene’s."
Ferguson and Wenger faced each other 49 times during their careers, with the Scot winning 23 games and the Frenchman winning 16, along with 10 draws.
