Simon Jordan takes aim at Pogba after Rangnick slammed for "hiding" at Man Utd

Simon Jordan has aimed a thinly-veiled jibe at Paul Pogba questioning why the World Cup winner does not perform for Manchester United, after Ralf Rangnick was accused of “hiding” at the club.

The Frenchman joined Man United in a £89million record transfer from Juventus in 2016, rejoining the club four years after leaving as a teenager. However, his time at the club has been blighted by injury and the midfielder has failed to produce his best form, with midfielder admitting he needed a "break" from football after struggling mentally.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at Old Trafford in June and looks set to leave the club on a free transfer, as the club prepare to slash their wage bill. Barcelona, Juventus, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain all thought to be keen on snapping him up.

Pogba has featured regularly under Rangnick since his arrival as interim coach in December but largely failed to impress. After delivering his assessment of the club four months into his reign, the Rangnick pointed out that United have fallen behind their rivals Liverpool and Manchester City due to a lack of physicality and aggression, suggesting it needs to be addressed with new signings.

In a debate on talkSPORT, ex-Liverpool footballer Danny Murphy slammed Rangnick for “hiding” behind the players at Old Trafford and claimed they would improve if they were working under Jurgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. But Jordan snapped back with a fiery response, casting doubt over whether Pogba would suddenly become the player United want him to be.

Jordan asked: "Do you think Pogba, if he was playing for Guardiola or for Klopp, would do the things he doesn't do at United?”, which promoted a fired-up Murphy to reply: “Yes!" And before he could elaborate, Jordan issued a quick retort, adding: "Then get him [Pogba] to do it.”

United are currently seventh in the Premier League and are in danger of missing out on a top-four finish, which is required to secure a place in next season’s Champions League. And former Palace supremo Jordan, who has gained notoriety for his outspoken nature and no-nonsense views about the game, gave a scathing assessment of United’s underachieving flops.

“They’re not a very good side are they? And of course we can make the argument as Gary Neville has made about the lack of coaching. I had genuinely thought that Rangnick would come in and wake a few of these players up, because they do need waking up,” he added.

“But he hasn’t and I think he’s added to the state of flux that exists in that football club that no one quite knows where they’re going, what they should and should not be doing, and people are being allowed to get away with a low level performance. They’re an under-aroused, under-motivated football team that is coasting through the rest of the season.
