Sheikh Jassim’s stance on Man Utd signings as Erik ten Hag picks three

LGBTQ+ activist concerned by potential Qatari takeover of Man Utd

Sheikh Jassim has no transfer targets in mind for Manchester United right now, according to reports. The Qatari billionaire is instead focused on ousting the Glazers and acquiring 100 per cent of the club. However, that hasn’t stopped Erik ten Hag from looking ahead with the 53-year-old eager to improve his side in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Sheikh Jassim has been tipped to land the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Eduardo Camavinga and Kingsley Coman if he ends up becoming the next owner of Manchester United.

But, according to Sky Sports, the Qatari billionaire has no targets in mind at the current moment in time.

He is instead ‘focused on buying the club’ and it’s currently unclear where he stands, having launched four offers so far.

The report adds that, should Sheikh Jassim and his consortium succeed with their takeover pursuit, there’s no guarantee they’ll go for Neymar.

But, behind the scenes, Ten Hag appears to be plotting.

Man Utd transfers: Ten Hag wants another Pogba and it makes sense

It’s claimed the Dutchman, whose side tackle Chelsea on Thursday night, believes Harry Kane, Mason Mount and Declan Rice would all be perfect for his squad.

Kane has been brilliant for Tottenham, despite the north London giants enduring a torrid year under the likes of Antonio Conte, Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason.

Spurs won’t be playing in the Champions League next season and are battling to book a place in Europe altogether.

And United are hoping to capitalise on the woes of their rival by going for Kane, who has been on their radar ever since Louis van Gaal’s time in the dugout.

Mount could be allowed to leave Chelsea this summer, with his deal at Stamford Bridge due to expire in 2024.

The Blues have failed to tie the midfielder down for the long term, leading to talk of a possible departure.

And United are ready to go for Mount having made a ‘number of inquiries over his potential availability this season’.

They have also been ‘encouraged’ by his situation in the capital, with Chelsea facing selling the player to avoid losing him for nothing in 12 months’ time.

Rice was a target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during the 50-year-old’s spell as manager.

And United are primed to pursue the West Ham star, who has helped his side reach the UEFA Conference League final.

Arsenal and Manchester City have been linked with Rice as a result of his fine displays at the London Stadium.

But United’s need is arguably greatest and they’re set to try and land the England international, despite also having interest in Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong.

Who the Red Devils ultimately end up signing this summer remains to be seen.

Yet it appears United are ready to back Ten Hag on transfers, regardless of whether Sheikh Jassim’s takeover bid succeeds or not.

Speaking ahead of his side’s clash with Chelsea, meanwhile, the 53-year-old insisted his team were well-poised as the summer window approaches.

“I came in here and we talked about what can we do in the squad, what can we do in transfers,” he said.

“And last year, the club confirmed they can do.

“So, for me, I don’t think anything changed and yeah, in this summer period we can do the same.

“Of course we are also planning for the future, for next season and that’s what we have to do.

“And that is also talking with your scouting department, recruitment responsibilities, and talking with players of course.”
