Sheikh Jassim may provide £171m gift with Kylian Mbappe deal on cards
Comparing Man City's treble winners to Man Utd's class of 1999
Manchester United are reportedly set to make a final decision regarding their preferred bidder by the end of this week, with Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani rivalling Sir Jim Ratcliffe in the battle to reach a binding agreement with the Glazer family. Sheikh Jassim, who has been leading a Qatari consortium throughout the entire takeover process, has tabled a proposal that would see him purchase a 100 per cent stake in United and its assets.
Ratcliffe, meanwhile, has submitted an offer that includes an option for two of the Glazers to remain at Old Trafford. Avram and Joel Glazer could be poised to stay on as minority stakeholders if the bid is accepted, which would see them continue to invest in the club without the power to make key decisions.
A number of social media accounts claimed on Monday evening that Sheikh Jassim’s offer had been accepted by the Red Devils but Fahed al Emadi, editorial director of Qatari news outlet Al-Watan, has since clarified that a concrete decision is yet to be made by those in power at Old Trafford.
He tweeted: “Contrary to certain media and social media reports overnight, Al Watan is not owned by Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, and Al Watan’s media report yesterday speculating about possible movement in the Manchester United takeover process was based on international media reports, as stated in the article itself, and with such news widely circulating periodically in international media for many months.”

Sheikh Jassim could provide £171m gift
Sheikh Jassim could be poised to shell out around £171m to bring Kylian Mbappe to United if his latest bid to purchase the club is successful, according to El Pais.
It is claimed that the Red Devils would find themselves in pole position to land Mbappe if they are taken over by Qatar, who also own a controlling stake in Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe would reportedly be ‘interested’ in joining United in such a scenario, with the Frenchman destined to leave his current club at some point between now and the end of next season.
