Sheikh Jassim is reportedly set to make a world-record bid for Manchester United before tonight's 9pm deadline.
The Qatari politician has the funds in place, according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, leaving the Glazers with a decision to make on whether they want to sell the club or not. His offer could purportedly eclipse the £4.25bn Todd Boehly spent to buy Chelsea last season.
The American venture capitalist shattered the record when he bought the West Londoners from Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich last season. However, the Qatari's could significantly overtake the figure set last year.

A second Qatari bid was expected after Qatari representatives were seen visiting the club's training ground. Sheikh Jassim, as the chairman of the Qatari Islamic Bank, has a purported net worth of around £980m, but the Qatari Royal Family has a combined net worth of around £275bn.
It is believed the Raine Group will decide on a preferred bid when this round of offers come to an end at 9pm. There remains a very real possibility the Glazer family will remain at the helm of the club.
The controversial Americans initially invested in the club in 2003, but managed to take full control of the club two years later, by financing a £790m purchase through loans secured against the Red Devils' assets.
