Michael Schumacher’s wife has been ‘a prisoner’ keeping F1 icon’s health secret

Michael Schumacher's wife Corinna has been "like a prisoner" while she's kept his condition under wraps, his former boss Eddie Jordan has said.

Little has been revealed about the F1 legend's health since he suffered a serious head injury in a skiing accident in December 2013. Corinna, who married Schumacher in 1995, has ensured his wish for privacy has been maintained in the years since.

But that has meant she's been unable to socialise for fear of facing repetitive questions about her husband, according to Jordan. He told OLBG: "This was the most horrific situation for Mick and Corinna.

"It's been nearly ten years now and Corinna has not been able to go to a party, to lunch or this or that, she's like a prisoner because everyone would want to talk to her about Michael when she doesn't need reminding of it every minute."

Jordan, who gave Schumacher his F1 debut drive in 1991, was refused to see him shortly after his accident by Corinna as she's limited visitors to a select few, which includes his former Ferrari chief Jean Todt.

He also expressed his sympathy for son Mick, who after two seasons with Haas lost his F1 seat for the 2023 season and is now a reserve driver for Mercedes.

"It's also difficult for Mick is trying to make a career for himself in motor racing," Jordan continued. "If Mick did not have this pressure of his father looming over him, he would probably be a much better driver than what we think.

"However, it is his father and he has to understand and cope with that, but my thoughts are with him."
