Sheikh Jassim knows method to buy Man Utd and finally Glazers for good

Ratcliffe leaves Old Trafford after Man Utd takeover talks

At the current moment in time, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is leading the charge to be the next owner of Manchester United. It was claimed on Wednesday night that the Brit was the Glazers’ preferred takeover bidder. But Sheikh Jassim can still win the race if he delves deep into his pockets and pays the £6billion asking price…

United have been on the market ever since November, with the Glazers confirming they were open to a potential sale shortly after being criticised by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Since then, three rounds of bidding have taken place with both Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim looking to make a gargantuan investment.

Fast-forward to now, however, and it’s the Brit who seems to be in pole position when it comes to getting the keys to Old Trafford.

The Sun claimed on Wednesday night that Ratcliffe has been chosen as the Glazers’ preferred bidder.

The INEOS chief is willing to let brothers Joel and Avram stay on in a minor capacity, with the two siblings poised to keep shares worth 20 per cent.

This will enable them to profit in the coming years, particularly if United do manage to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.

But while that’s reportedly the case, Sheikh Jassim knows a way of winning the fight once and for all and finally bringing this circus to an end.

Right from the very off, the Glazers have made it clear they’d want £6bn to cede total control of United.

After the three rounds of bidding, however, they’ve only received offers of just over £5bn instead.

Sheikh Jassim’s overall package is higher but Ratcliffe, by allowing Joel and Avram to remain despite a backlash from fans, has played his trump card.

Now, if the Qatari billionaire genuinely wants to own United, it’s time to play his own.

Sheikh Jassim has been adamant he won’t overpay for United, despite the size and stature of the club.

But he does have the money to meet the Glazers’ asking price – with money left over – which means he can still swing the pendulum his way.

Yes, it would be a huge investment.

Yet when you’ve already got a spare £5bn lying around, what’s the harm in going just £1bn higher?

Sheikh Jassim seems to be the candidate United supporters want the most and everything he’s briefed certainly sounds positive enough.

He’s willing to spend lavishly on the squad, with talk of moves for Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Kingsley Coman and Eduardo Camavinga all arising.

The Qatari figure has pledged to pump money into Manchester as a whole, as well as the club’s Carrington training complex.

And Sheikh Jassim is prepared to pay for the redevelopment of Old Trafford, while also making it clear his own bid for the club is ‘debt free’.

The Glazers want £6bn. Right now, Ratcliffe is supposedly succeeding with a figure of just over £5bn.

If Sheikh Jassim is to become the next owner of United, he’ll need to dig just a little bit deeper in order to strike gold.

Meanwhile, there’s been talk of several United legends returning to Old Trafford should Qatar win the race for the club.

It emerged earlier in the week that Sheikh Jassim was eyeing former players to take on key roles as he looks to adopt models similar to those at Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Sir Alex Ferguson had expressed a desire for United to do this during his time at the club.

The Glazers never listened, however, and Darren Fletcher remains the only former player employed in a big position of authority.
