Seven Euro 2020 stars playing their way to a Premier League transfer this summer
The European Championship offers exposure to some of the biggest stars in football every four years, providing a shop window for the continent’s finest to advertise their talents.
Premier League clubs are sure to be watching the tournament with keen interest, and Euro 2020 hasn’t disappointed thus far in showcasing plenty of players at their peaks.
England’s top flight is often considered one of the world’s most appealing destinations due to the quality and depth of the division, but also because it’s one of the more lucrative leagues.
As Euro 2020’s group stage draws to a close, Daily Star Sport takes a look at which breakout talents could play their way to a Premier League switch later this summer.
Alexander Isak (Sweden)
Sweden frontman Alexander Isak has done everything except hit the back of the net thus far at Euro 2020, but that may not matter as far as his Premier League prospects are concerned.
La Liga fans will be well aware of the striker’s talents, but Isak’s silky footwork has already led to rumours the Real Sociedad star will be on the move this summer.
The 21-year-old—who joined La Real from Borussia Dortmund in 2019—is reportedly a target for both Liverpool and Chelsea, both of whom will be aware of his £60million buy-out clause.
Which Premier League club would be the best fit for Isak? Let us know in the comments section.
Denzel Dumfries (Netherlands)
Two goals in two games at a European Championship is a record most strikers would be proud of, never mind a full-back like PSV’s Denzel Dumfries.
The Netherlands won Group C with a perfect three wins from three games, and Dumfries has proved to be an all-action asset in Frank de Boer’s set-up, scoring goals against Ukraine and Austria.
That kind of output is perhaps to be expected of the 25-year-old, who has scored 16 goals and recorded 20 assists during his three seasons in Eindhoven.
English admirers will have to move quickly if they’re to land Dumfries, however, after Sky Germany reported he and his €15million (£12.8m) release clause are interesting Bayern Munich.
Patrik Schick (Czech Republic)
The world stood to attention when Patrik Schick lobbed Scotland goalkeeper David Marshall from 50 yards out, with Premier League powers sure to be among those who took notice.
The Czech Republic frontman first burst onto the scene in Europe’s major leagues with Sampdoria, but the former Roma star has since found a home in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen.
Schick, 25, matched his personal best for goals in a single season after converting 13 in his first campaign at the BayArena, though it wasn’t enough to secure a top-four finish in the Bundesliga.
An English suitor with Champions League credentials could tempt the player to represent a fifth club in six seasons, with Schick currently a joint-top scorer at Euro 2020 on three goals.
Mikkel Damsgaard (Denmark)
Mikkel Damsgaard wasn’t initially in Denmark’s starting plans at Euro 2020, but the Sampdoria winger has looked a natural fit after replacing Christian Eriksen in the XI following his cardiac arrest.
And like Eriksen did when he broke onto the scene, 20-year-old Damsgaard hasn’t allowed a lack of experience to hold him back.
The Serie A star became Denmark’s youngest scorer at a major tournament when he converted in Monday’s 4-1 throttling of Russia, with talkSPORT reporting Tottenham and West Ham are interested.
Manuel Locatelli (Italy)

Italy have impressed as arguably the best team at Euro 2020 during the early stages, and Manuel Locatelli has dazzled as possibly the most effective member of Roberto Mancini’s squad.
Two goals either side of half-time saw him almost single-handedly steer the Azzurri to victory over Switzerland, building off a stellar campaign in which he helped Sassuolo finish eighth in Serie A.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are understood to be among Locatelli’s admirers, while the Daily Express reported Tottenham’s new director, Fabio Paratici, wants to make the player a statement signing in north London.
Daniel O’Shaughnessy (Finland)
Man Utd 'about to launch' Pau Torres offer after long-term interest in Spain star
A solitary goal scored in their three games in Group B made Finland one of the worst attacking teams of the first round, but Daniel O’Shaughnessy has been a star feature of their defence.
Finland kept a clean sheet beating Denmark 1-0 in their opener and managed to keep Belgium at bay for 74 minutes in their third outing, which is no small feat in itself.
O’Shaughnessy, 26, was arguably the best performer in that backline throughout, and the former Cheltenham Town centre-back could be ready for a return to England after winning two Finnish league titles with HJK.
A Brentford reunion could even be on the cards after they were promoted to the Premier League, having failed to make an appearance for the Bees when he was on their books between 2014 and 2016.
Roman Yaremchuk (Ukraine)
Man City set to make £100m bid for Harry Kane but face Daniel Levy rejection
Andriy Shevchenko’s days at Chelsea were some of the most forgettable of his career, but Ukraine have a new star scorer who could roll the Premier League dice in Gent’s Roman Yaremchuk.
A return of two goals and one assist may not be enough to steer Shevchenko’s side out of Group C and into the round of 16, though it does highlight Yaremchuk’s individual qualities as a centre forward.
Calciomercato.it reported West Ham manager David Moyes is keen to recruit Andriy Yarmolenko’s international compatriot, while Goal mentioned Arsenal and Wolves as alternative destinations.
