Serge Aurier ‘stormed out of Tottenham stadium at half-time’ of Liverpool clash
Serge Aurier allegedly stormed out of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at half-time on Thursday.
The Ivory Coast international defender was brought off by Jose Mourinho after Roberto Firmino had handed Liverpool a vital lead just before the break in north London.
The 28-year-old is said to have taken that decision very badly, and is said to have left the ground before the second-half after an inquest into how they had conceded.
Spurs, who were also without Harry Kane for the second period, went on to lose 3-1 thanks to Trent Alexander-Arnold and Sadio Mane despite Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s fine strike.
The Mail have reported the news of Aurier’s early departure, with a source stating that things ‘kicked off’ in the dressing room as the players questioned the goal they had conceded.
Mourinho said of his team-talk “It was the mood of team that was difficult to accept you are losing.
“It's difficult to accept the nature of the goal because the goal is in some aspects a replica of the chance they had in the first minute.
“So it's, of course, a mood where people is not happy.
“But then we have to move and Harry Kane is injured and we need to try to do something.
“Unlucky in the second half that we start by conceding a goal immediately."
The defeat leaves Spurs four points behind Liverpool with a game in hand, and they are set to be without Kane for a few weeks following a double blow to his ankle.
Mourinho said: “Two ankles, the first was a bad tackle, it was Thiago, the second one I didn't know well.
“But two injuries in both ankles, the second one worst than the first one – a few weeks, I don't know.
“For Harry to leave a game when he wants to play – it's not a nothing injury. How long we have to wait and see.”
