Sancho’s England absence could help Man Utd in further Dortmund negotiations
Manchester United may have received a boost after Jadon Sancho was left out of the England squad against Croatia on Sunday.
The Three Lions got their Euro 2020 campaign started with a win after beating the Croats 1-0 at Wembley.
Raheem Sterling grabbed the only goal of the game in the second-half, tucking in Kalvin Phillips' pass.
But there were some glaring omissions from the side, including Sancho – who was not in the squad at all.
With 26 players in the camp, three stars are set to miss out every game and the Borussia Dortmund man was the one to bite the bullet, along with Ben Chilwell and the injured Harry Maguire.
However, United will not mind as they look to close in on the 21-year-old as their first signing of the summer.
The Red Devils were keen on bringing the forward to Old Trafford prior to the Euro 2020 competition going underway.
But with the tournament in full swing, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have to wait before getting his main target through the door.
Gareth Southgate may have given the Red Devils coach a major boost, though, after leaving him out of the squad – allowing negotiations to continue with the spotlight away from the youngster.
Both United and Dortmund are locked in talks over a price, which has already dramatically dropped from last summer.

Then the Bundesliga outfit were asking for £109m and were not open for negotiations as the Old Trafford side missed out on the Englishman.
However, that price has declined and is now at around £85m – yet United are still not ready to meet that total and have offered around £75m.
With the sides close to an agreement, Sancho has already accepted personal terms over a five-year contract that will see him at the club until 2026.
It includes astronomical wages that will make him the second-highest earner at the Red Devils – ahead of Paul Pogba and behind David de Gea.
