Sagna feels Arsenal are going to lose the 'majority' of the time
Bacary Sagna hits out at Arsenal’s hierarchy for spending over £130m on young players and feels his former club will ‘lose the majority of the time’ as they have ‘lost their DNA’
- Arsenal suffered their second straight defeat to start the season against Chelsea
- They have spent more in the transfer market than any other club this summer
- Bacary Sagna has hit out at the club for spending so much on young players
- The former Arsenal star said he goes into games expecting they will lose
Bacary Sagna has slammed Arsenal following their 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners fell to their second straight defeat to start the season thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku on his second Chelsea debut and Reece James.
Arsenal have over £130m this summer which is more than any other Premier League club so far during the transfer window by bringing in Ben White, Martin Odegaard, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale joined for £30m, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares.
It was a disappointing day for Arsenal as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday
But Sagna who played for the Gunners between 2007 and 2014, feels like they should have brought in more experienced players to the club to complement their current young stars.
Sagna told former Gunner Emmanuel Petit on RMC Sport: ‘When I watch Arsenal now, honestly, I know that they are going to lose the majority of the time, that something is going to happen, that we are going to concede a stupid goal.
‘How can you spend €150 million and only bring in young players?

‘It might be good for the future, but someone has got to think about the present.
‘When I was playing, anyone would be excited to join Arsenal, now we have lost our DNA.’
Sagna also claimed that the younger players at Arsenal won’t listen to the experienced stars at the club for not winning titles.
He said: ‘Maybe we have players with character but they have won nothing. Today, you know how youngsters are, some older player tells them what to do.
‘They say, “well, what have you won?”. A player who has won titles barely has to speak to be listened to.’
Arsenal’s start to the season doesn’t get any easier as they play champions Manchester City before the international break.

Ahead of their game against Chelsea, Arteta said that fans know what he is trying to do at the club.
He said: ‘They know what we are trying to do. They can see it. And if you can’t see it and don’t see it, it’s because you don’t want to and you want to see something different.
‘But they really know what is coming, what we’re trying to do and they will be there for us. Because they know, as well, that our young players need them.
‘Arsenal fans, when things are a little bit difficult, they are always behind the team. I can say that for sure as I felt it from when I was a player here.’
He added: ‘We are happy with what we have done. I’m really happy with the club, the unity we have to make decisions and how focused we are on what we believe is the right thing to do for the club.’
