Ryan Shawcross closes on move to David Beckham’s Inter Miami after Stoke agree to terminate contract of 33-year-old centre back

  • The defender joined Stoke from Manchester United in 2008 for £1m 
  • Shawcross has made over 450 appearances for the Championship club
  • He has struggled for game time since breaking a leg in the summer of 2019

Ryan Shawcross is expected to finalise his move from Stoke City to Inter Miami by the weekend.

The 33-year old centre back will link up with Miami coach Phil Neville and owner David Beckham at the MLS franchise after productive talks with Stoke to mutually terminate the end of his contract. 

Stoke City boss Michael O’Neill told the Stoke Sentinel: ‘It’s very close to being finalised now.

‘I think there are a couple of things Ryan has to sort out his end with Inter Miami but as far as everything to agree at Stoke’s end, my understanding is that it’s been done.

‘I suppose it’s just a matter of time now before it’s finalised.’
