Ryan Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively invests in Wrexham to bring in financial boost

What can Wrexham expect in League Two?

Hollywood investment has already fired Wrexham back into the Football League, but the club’s US backing isn’t stopping at just Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. That’s because Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively is now providing sponsorship for the North Wales club via her Betty Buzz beverage brand.

The National League champions already benefit from sponsorship via Reynolds thanks to his Aviation Gin company, but now his other half has become a commercial partner of the resurgent football club.

The Betty Buzz logo will appear on Wrexham’s training kits from next season and is the main sponsor of their pre-season trip to America this summer.

A huge increase in profile has allowed the Dragons to arrange State-side friendly matches against Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United, as they prepare to return to the Football League after a 15-year absence.

Lively’s non-alcoholic drink will be on sale at stadiums on the US tour and its presence will soon be felt at the Racecourse Ground as well. Betty Buzz is taking over the naming rights of the hospitality suite used by Reynolds and McElhenney, which will be redesigned in June.

The two Hollywood actors have revolutionised Wrexham since purchasing the non-league club in 2020. After investing over £10million in players and club resources, the Dragons won the National League title this season with a record-breaking 111 points and will now ply their trade in the EFL’s League Two next term.

Reynolds has brought Lively and their two daughters to Wrexham home matches on several occassions, but now the actor’s wife has a financial interest of her own in the club.

On announcing the new deal, Lively said: “The owners of Wrexham AFC reached out to me through official channels. Our team had, of course, heard of Wrexham AFC but once we officially learned about their refreshing vision, we knew it was the right official fit for our refreshing sparkling beverage. Officially.”

Reynolds took the opportunity to push his own gin brand while mocking the whiskey alternative produced by co-owner McElhenney. He said: “Betty Buzz pairs well with any beverage – whether it’s Ryan’s Aviation Gin or Rob’s Four Walls Whiskey. But if any of you pair it with Rob’s Four Walls Whiskey, Ryan will hunt you down and make you regret that choice. You can also just drink it alone! Anything but pairing it with Rob’s delicious whiskey.”

Wrexham’s well-documented success is making sponsorship deals easy to come by. Match day shirts are currently sponsored by social media giant TikTok, while travel experts Expedia appear on the sleeves.
