Roy Keane and Jamie Redknapp embroiled in explosive row on Sky Sports

Sky Sports pundits Roy Keane and Jamie Redknapp got involved in a fiery debate ahead of Tottenham's match against Burnley.

Spurs have come under a huge amount of criticism recently, with Jose Mourinho's side having lost five of their last six Premier League games.

Keane was asked ahead of kick-off what he thought of Spurs, and insisted there were a number of Burnley players who would improve their team.

"Definitely their goalkeeper and two centre-halves are better than what Spurs have got, and probably even the two lads in midfield," Keane said.

" Tottenham have got so many average players. We talk about the pressure Spurs are under to get in the top four but if you take Kane and Son out of that team they are average."

At that point Redknapp was brought into the conversation via a video monitor, and appeared baffled by some of Keane's comments.

"I don't think it's an average team or an average squad, it's full of internationals," he started.

"If you look at the back four, Dier plays for England, Sanchez plays for Colombia, Alderweireld plays for the No.1 team in the world…"

Keane then interrupted: "Playing for your country doesn't make you a good player."

The two spoke angrily over each other for a while, before Keane added: "Jamie makes the point about international players – these days everybody plays for their country! If you don't play for your country now you are a bad player."

They then turned to Alderweireld, and Redknapp argued: "Alderweireld would get in your Man United team right now, Roy.

"I think the goalkeeper's not good enough, I don't trust Aurier or Doherty. But Reguilon is as good a left-back as there is in the country so I think you've got that wrong…"

Again Keane interrupted by demanding: "Is that why Real Madrid let him go? Why did Real Madrid let him go?"

Redknapp furiously responded: "Does that matter? Just because Real Madrid let him go that doesn't make him a good player? He's a fantastic left-back!"

After eventually admitting that he is a good player, Redknapp finally witheringly added "very good," before the conversation moved on.

It was certainly a debate which had viewers on the edge of their seats, with both men raising their voices and looking genuinely livid with the other at various points in the argument.

Keane ended the proceedings by saying: "Spurs could win today two or three nil and afterwards we'd be praising them.

"But this idea that Spurs should automatically be top four because Mourinho's a top coach… Mourinho knows the game bloody better than all of us."

Eventually presenter David Jones brought things to a halt by saying: "We've got to go, unfortunately. I'm a bit disappointed that we've actually got to watch some football, because I'm enjoying this conversation."
