Ronaldo spotted in tense chat with Ten Hag before half-time sub in Utd friendly

Manchester United's wantaway star Cristiano Ronaldo was spotted in a tense chat with new boss Erik ten Hag after making his return at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo finally linked with the Red Devils as they made their final preparations for the new Premier League season. United lined up against Spanish side Rayo Vallecano for a friendly at the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday.

However, it wasn't a dream homecoming for Ronaldo, who was hooked at the halfway point of the clash. And to add more misery to Ronaldo's afternoon Amad Diallo, who replaced the 37-year-old, went on to find the net for Ten Hag's side.

Ahead of kick-off, Ten Hag, about Ronaldo's match fitness, had admitted: "I cannot tell in this moment. He is definitely not on the level of our current squad, because he missed a lot of weeks. So he needs games and he needs a lot of training."

Ronaldo was hooked at half-time during the pre-season friendly.

And the 37-year-old was spotted leaving Old Trafford before the full-time whistle had even sounded on Sunday. United have since confirmed that Ronaldo won't face any additional sanctions for leaving the ground earlier.

United drew 1-1 with the Spanish side ahead of their opening clash with Brighton next weekend.
