Former Barcelona star Ronaldinho believes that his old side are still capable of winning the LaLiga title this season.

After enduring frustration earlier in the season under Ronald Koeman, Barcelona have improved significantly since Ronaldinho’s former team-mate Xavi took charge of the team.

Although Barcelona are 12 points behind Real, Ronaldinho feels they can still win the league

Winning the league appears to be an enormous task for Barcelona, especially with Sevilla also in contention, but Ronaldinho believes that it is possible.

Ronaldinho, who played for Barcelona between 2003 and 2008, told Mundo Deportivo: ‘We are excited that Barca play well again and I think anything is possible.

‘I hope so and as a fan I am hoping that things go well and I think there can be [a comeback].’

Ronaldinho also spoke highly of Xavi and the impact that he has made in terms of getting Barcelona to play with flair again.

He said: ‘Xavi has returned and has brought us hope. As my friend and ex-team-mate, this excites people and me too.

‘When he played, he already had a vision of the game as a coach.

‘He guided the game and I see it very well [in his coaching] too because he makes us want to watch Barca games again.’

Ronaldinho won LaLiga in 2004-05 and 2005-06, while he also won the Champions League in 2006,

Ronaldinho praised Barcelona manager Xavi for helping the club to rediscover their identity

Xavi signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres in the January transfer window, while Adama Traore arrived on loan from Wolves.

Barcelona secured a 4-0 victory away to Real last month, with Aubameyang scoring a brace while Ronald Araujo and Torres also got on the scoresheet.

In addition to their domestic exploits, Barcelona are also still active in the Europa League and drew 1-1 away to Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie.

On Sunday Barcelona return to LaLiga action with an away game against relegation-threatened Levante.

Real Madrid won 2-0 at home to Levante on Saturday courtesy of goals from Casemiro and Lucas Vazquez.

Barcelona have certainly rediscovered their identity under Xavi, which bodes well for the future,  but it will be difficult for them to overtake Real given how late it is in the season.
