Romeo Beckham joined in Brentford squad by sons of two Premier League icons

Romeo Beckham was joined in the Brentford B squad by the sons of two other Premier League icons for his debut.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who joined the club on a short-term loan deal from Inter Miami last week, came off the bench to make his first appearance on Tuesday night. Beckham appeared as a second half substitute in the Bees' dramatic London Senior Cup second round victory away to ninth tier Erith & Belvedere, with his dad David Beckham in the stands.

However, he was not the only son of a former Premier League star to feature, with the offspring of Kevin Lisbie and Paul Dickov also amongst the Brentford substitutes.

Kyreece Lisbie, 19, was introduced alongside Beckham in the 55th minute with Brentford trailing 2-1 to their non-league opponents.

The winger went on to equalise with a fine solo goal, skipping past the challenges of two defenders before calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.

Lisbie joined the club from Watford in the summer, signing a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months after previous spells at Cray Valley Paper Mills and Leyton Orient.

His dad, Kevin, is still playing for non-league VCD Athletic at the age of 44, but the former Jamaica forward is best known for his 14 goals in 113 Premier League appearances for Charlton Athletic.

As for Dickov, his son Max was brought on 10 minutes later and also joined the club in the summer on a one-year deal with the option of another year. His dad scored 36 goals in 155 Premier League appearances across stints with Blackburn Rovers, Leicester City, Manchester City and Arsenal.

Brentford were able to follow Lisbie's equaliser with a stoppage time winner as Michael Olakigbe booked their place in the third round in dramatic fashion.

Manager Neil MacFarlane was full of praise for Romeo Beckham at full-time, telling the Daily Mail: “His father was an unbelievable player, with an unbelievable character, who had an unbelievable career.

"We push the players like they have never been pushed before and he (Romeo) has been incredible and bought into the culture and he should be proud of his debut.”
