Romelu Lukaku taunts Zlatan Ibrahimovic as he appears to shout ‘GOD’ in Inter’s rout of AC in Milan derby, after arch rival striker claimed he was the only one in the city in their Coppa Italia bust-up last month

Romelu Lukaku gained the edge over rival Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the pair’s pursuit for the title of ‘God of Milan’ as the Belgian marksman helped guide Inter to a huge win in the Milan Derby.

The former Manchester United team-mates were involved in a heated bust up in last month’s Coppa Italia quarter final, in which the pair engaged in a furious confrontation in the first half of the game.

Lukaku appeared to call the Swedish veteran a ‘son of a b****’ as well as ‘f*** your wife’ while Ibrahimovic reportedly said ‘Go do your voodoo s***, you little donkey.’

The Belgian scored and provided an assist as Inter moved four points clear at the top of Serie A

The duo are hoping to lead their sides to a long sought after Scudetto, ending the dominant era of Juventus, and entered Sunday’s Milan Derby hoping to emerge with a huge advantage in the race for the Serie A title.

And it was the Belgium international who stole the show, setting up Lautaro Martinez for the opening goal of the game before capping off a fine 3-0 win with the third, a dazzling solo effort in which he powered past the helpless Milan defence.

Lukaku surged towards the corner flag in jubilation after bagging the brilliant goal, pointing to his chest and was heard shouting ‘Dio, diooo’, which roughly translates to ‘God’.

The Swede labelled himself the ‘God of Milan’ but Lukaku believes he is the better player

Ibrahimovic has publicly described himself as the ‘God of Milan’, having transformed the club’s fortunes since returning from LA Galaxy last year. Last October, he tweeted: ‘Milano never had a king, they have a GOD’.

There is no love lost between the pair, with the 39-year-old revealing that Lukaku did not take him up on a bet when they played together for the Red Devils.

‘I will say this on Romelu: don’t expect good technique from Lukaku’, Zlatan told Gazzetta dello Sport. ‘His best strength is sheer power. If only he’d listened to me…

‘At Manchester United, we made a bet: “I’ll give you £50 for every decent first touch you make.”

The Inter star could be heard shouting after scoring a sensational solo strike at the San Siro

‘He replied: “What do I win if I get them all right?”

‘I told him nothing, he would simply become a better player. For the record, he never accepted the bet! Perhaps he was afraid of losing.

‘Joking aside, Lukaku has this mad hunger to prove himself to the world and I’m sure he will do well at Inter too.’

Ibrahimovic and Lukaku received one-match bans for their heated bust up in the Coppa Italia, with the Belgian missing the first leg of Antonio Conte’s side’s semi final clash with Juventus.

Inter’s win on Sunday saw them open a four-point gap to second-placed Milan, while Juventus languish in fifth, eleven points behind the leaders with two games in hand.

Antonio Conte’s side are now in the driving seat to clinch a long-desired Serie A title
