Robbie Savage SLAMS Man United keeper de Gea after Sevilla goal
‘I don’t know what he’s doing’: Robbie Savage SLAMS Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea for bizarrely being lobbed by Loic Bade’s shoulder for Sevilla’s second goal in Europa League quarter-final second-leg tie
- Manchester United trail Sevilla 4-2 on aggregate in their Europa League tie
- They conceded right at the start of the second half through Loic Bade
- Robbie Savage felt the goalkeeper ‘had to do better’ with the strike
Robbie Savage has criticised Manchester United keeper David de Gea for failing to save Sevilla’s second goal in their Europa League quarter final.
Loic Bade deflected the ball in off the crossbar with his shoulder, but it was travelling slowly and right above de Gea when it went in.
After the goal, Robbie Savage said on BT Sport commentary: ‘Such a terrible start. You look at David de Gea, I don’t know what he’s doing, it’s right above him.
‘I’m not sure he does well enough there. It comes off his shoulder, in off the crossbar, I think the goalkeeper has to do better there.
The goal puts United 4-2 down on aggregate, giving them a mountain to climb in Seville.

After being 2-0 up in the first leg at Old Trafford, they scored two own goals late on, and went behind in the opening exchanges on Thursday after another mistake from de Gea allowed Youssef En-Nesyri a straightforward chance.
They appear to be struggling with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Rapahel Varane and Lisandro Martinez all unavailable.
Even the introduction of star striker Marcus Rashford at half time does not appear to have helped, with the Red Devils still a long way off the pace.
If they cannot find a way back in Seville, they will be hoping for an improved performance in their FA Cup semi final against Brigthon on Sunday.
