Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes Mohamed Salah is underappreciated as a player as he questioned those failing to recognise his talent.
The Liverpool forward scored his 31st goal in all competitions in the Reds’ 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion on Sunday and is currently tied with Harry Kane on 22 Premier League goals.
Salah has hit 20 plus goals in all competitions in each of his four campaigns with Liverpool, netting a remarkable 44 times in his debut season at the club.
But despite his frightening goalscoring numbers, the Egyptian continues to be overlooked at times.
Both Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville left Salah out of their respective squads when naming their Premier League Team of the Season on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.

The Egyptian international is now competing for his third Premier League Golden Boot in four years and Ferdinand is adamant that the former Roma forward is not being shown the respect he deserves.
“He’s vying for top goalscorer again in this league and he’s not in people’s team of the season, I do not get it,” he said on his YouTube channel.
“He ain’t getting the respect he deserves.
“Mohamed Salah is a top, top, top, top player who is churning out numbers year in, year out.
“It’s become the norm to see him at the top of the charts now. It’s out of order!”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp shared Ferdinand’s frustration when discussing his star man earlier this year.
Klopp was left confused at claims that the 28-year-old was not receiving enough credit, though made clear this is certainly not the case at the club itself.
“You don’t have to ask me if or why he doesn’t get the credit. If he doesn’t get the credit, I don’t know,” said the German.
“It would be really strange and really unexplainable why he shouldn’t get the credit. He gets the credit here, internally, for sure for all these things.
“He gets all the respect from us. If you don’t give him the right amount of respect, you have to ask yourself why that is the case.
“The numbers and the performances cannot be the reason.”
In what has been a disappointing season for the Reds, Salah is someone who has continued to deliver each week.
The goalscoring numbers of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have both dipped this term, however, with the pair both still below double digits for goals in the league.
