Richarlison’s interview digs out Antonio Conte as ‘s*** season’ reaches new low

Richarlison has hit out at Antonio Conte in an explosive interview after his "s*** season" reached a new low.

Tottenham Hotspur were knocked out of the Champions League on Wednesday night as their goalless draw at home to AC Milan saw them lose the tie 1-0 on aggregate. Richarlison was limited to 20 minutes off the bench as he replaced Emerson Royal in the 70th minute, but the Brazilian was less than impressed at being a substitute.

Speaking to TNT Sports, via ESPN Brazil, after the match, Richarlison fumed: "That's what I didn't understand, too (being a substitute). It was going well, in a good sequence, two wins against West Ham and Chelsea.

"Suddenly, he (Cristian Stellini) put me on the bench, against Wolverhampton he put me on for five minutes. I asked 'why?' They didn't tell me anything.

"And, yesterday, they asked me to take a test at the gym, that if I was good I would go to the game and, at the time of the game, they left me on the bench. These are things that it is not possible to understand.

"Let's see what he (Conte) will say tomorrow, but there are no fools here either, I'm a professional, I work every day and I want to play. There are minutes left, time left.

"This season, excuse the word, it's been s***, because I don't have minutes, I suffered a little with the injury. But, when I enter the field, I give my life. I came from two games well, I think that's it, I think I should have played and I don't have to cry about it."

Richarlison has endured a difficult first season at Spurs after arriving from Everton for just over £50million last summer, signing a five-year deal with the club.

The 25-year-old has yet to score a league goal this term and has found the back of the net just twice in 25 appearances across all competitions, with both of those goals came in Spurs' Champions League group stage opener against Marseille back in September.

Calf and hamstring injuries saw the Brazil international miss 11 matches between October and January but his game time has also been limited when he has been fully fit.

He has been limited to just 12 starts this season and has only played the full 90 minutes on three occasions for Conte's side – despite a hugely impressive World Cup campaign for his nation midseason, when he played centre forward and scored three times, including the Goal of the Tournament – a stunning bicycle kick against Serbia.
