Reynolds had to take action before boarding plane with Foster’s shirt
Ryan Reynolds shares moment pitch is invaded after Wrexham promotion
Ben Foster has revealed Ryan Reynolds was forced to take emergency action before boarding a plane to the United States after taking the goalkeeper’s playing shirt with him that ‘stunk’ of alcohol. Reynolds saw his Wrexham side secure promotion back to the Football League last weekend with a victory over Boreham Wood.
One man who played a huge part in Wrexham’s National League title run in was Foster, after the former Premier League star was brought in to play the last eight games of the campaign between the sticks. Along with Hollywood owners Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Foster himself has played a huge role in the Welsh side’s blockbuster season.
The former England international proved to be the star of the show in Wrexham’s dramatic 3-2 victory over title rivals Notts County earlier this month, after saving a penalty deep into injury time. Foster and his teammates then went on to defeat Yeovil and Boreham Wood on the way to wrapping up the title.
Last week’s victory at the Racecourse Ground sparked wild scenes, and Foster found himself at the centre of it. The beer-drenched keeper then made his way into the post-match press conference to give his thoughts, before being gatecrashed by Reynolds.

The Hollywood star demanded Foster’s playing shirt, alongside his teammate’s Elliott Lee, to take his own memorabilia home. Prior to boarding a flight home though, Foster has since revealed that Reynolds was forced to wash the shirts in the shower due to the stench of beer.
Speaking on his podcast ‘Fozcast’, Foster revealed: “He [Reynolds] actually sent me a picture of the shirts the next day. He had to basically wash them in the shower because they were stinking so bad. He said ‘I can’t take them on a plane with me stinking like that’.”

Opening up on the title-winning celebrations, Foster revealed he and his teammates joined the party inside Reynolds and McElhenney’s box. “We went over to Rob and Ryan’s box, and that was it. ‘Crack on’ basically,” Foster added. “We stayed in there until about midnight, pure vibes honestly.
“It was so good. Music playing, but we didn’t have a speaker system. A few of the lads brought the changing room bass player and connected it to Spotify. So at any moment they were playing some of the dressing room songs or even some of the players’ songs. Everybody was just singing and it was so good.”
