Real Madrid youngster Reinier’s troubled loan spell at Girona continued on Saturday after he was sent off without being on the pitch.

With his side leading 1-0 in a derby clash with Espanyol, Reinier was warming up on the sidelines when he said that the assistant referee ‘is very bad, very bad’ according to a report from MD.

Referee Angel Ortiz promptly showed the 21-year-old a red card for his remarks, with Reinier now facing a two-match suspension.

Denmark international Martin Braithwaite promptly equalised for the visitors in the after the incident, but former Middlesbrough striker Cristhian Stuani restored their lead with a late penalty.

Reinier has endured a torrid time in Catalonia, having made just three starts since joining the club on loan at the start of the season.

Since the turn of the year, the Brazil youth international has made just three appearances for Michel’s side, combining for a total of 32 minutes, with his latest infraction unlikely to endear him any further to the former Rayo Vallecano boss.

The 2020 Olympic gold medallist’s deal with Los Blancos is expected to expire in the summer and he is one of a number of players expected to be allowed to leave the club as Carlo Ancelotti looks to clear space for new arrivals in his side.

Reinier’s current deal at the Bernabeu expires in June and he is expected to be allowed to leave on a free
