Referee report after Vinicius Jr red makes zero reference to racist abuse

The referee's initial report of Real Madrid's defeat against Valencia made no reference to racist abuse aimed at Vinicius Jr – before an addendum was made.

Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea was the man in charge of the fixture – and sent Vinicius Jr off for lashing out at a rival having been grabbed around the throat.

Astoundingly, the referee's initial report of the fixture made no reference to the racist abuse towards Vinicius Jr, despite audible chanting and furious player complaints.

An addendum was then made to the review, saying one fan chanted "monkey, monkey" at Vinicius in the second-half but making no mention of the wider abuse.

With Carlo Ancelotti saying that the game should've been stopped due to the 'unacceptable racist slurs' Valencia have apologised in a statement.

It read: "Valencia CF wish to publicly condemn insults and attacks of all kinds in football.

"The club have a firm commitment to the values of respect and sportsmanship, and reiterate our position against physical and verbal violence in stadiums.

"Thus, we are saddened by the events that occurred during the LaLiga Matchday 35 match against Real Madrid."

Vinicius Jr, 22, said he could be forced to leave Spain due to the ongoing abuse, before La Liga president Javier Tebas Medrano released a statement.

He accused the Brazil international of failing to show up to meetings regarding the tackling of racism, which brought a response from the forward.

Tebas said: "In cases of racism, we have tried to explain it to you, but you have not shown up for either of the two agreed dates that you requested yourself. Before criticising and insulting La Liga."

The incident is not an isolated one, with Atletico Madrid, Real Valladolid and Mallorca fans among those to racially abuse Vinicius in the last year.

The Brazilian star hit back by saying: "Once again, instead of criticising racists, the president of La Liga appears on social media to attack me.

"As much as you talk and pretend not to read, the image of your championship is shaken. See the responses to your posts and have a surprise…

"Omitting yourself only makes you equal to racists. I'm not your friend to talk about racism. I want actions and punishments."
