Reds have ‘pathway’ to Chiesa, Mbappe makes decision, considering Serie A star

Liverpool were quick of the blocks this transfer window, after confirming Ibrahima Konaté from RB Leipzig, but Jurgen Klopp isn't finished just yet.

After the sale of Georginio Wijnaldum to French giants PSG, Klopp has been looking to bolster his midfield with a new signing.

The German is also on the lookout for a star player who could help cut the gap between the Reds and last seasons champions Manchester City.

Plenty of faces are on their way out too; Harry Wilson and Marko Grujic are among the deadwood who have been shown the door on Merseyside.

And Daily Star Sport has rounded up all the day's news.

'Clear pathway' to Chiesa

Klopp is keen to add more firepower to his front line – which already includes Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, and Jota – and Euro 2020 star Federico Chiesa is his man.

Liverpool, according to reports from Italy, had an £86million bid rejected, however, they now have a clear pathway to the winger following the sale of Harry Wilson.

Wilson raised a windfall of £12million, and alongside the sale of Grujic Liverpool have raised extra funds.

Mbappe's future

Kylian Mbappe's PSG contract runs out next summer, and Mbappe has 'told Mauricio Pochettino' his decision about his future.

According to Marca, Mbappe has told the former Tottenham boss that he won't put pen-to-paper on a new deal when his contract expires next summer.

Marca also reports that he wants to move to a club where he believes that he can win the Champions League.

Klopp is wary about rushing Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez back into action after both have spent a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Calciomercato are reporting that Liverpool could be ready to bolster their defensive options with a move for Cagliari's Sebastian Walukiewicz; the 21-year-old could potentially be available for as little as £8million.

Manchester United and Chelsea are also both interested in the Polish international's services.
