Jamie Redknapp insists Tottenham boss Antonio Conte ‘has spent money on very good players’ despite the coach’s claim he needs more depth in his team.
The Italian manager has been vocal in recent weeks about his desire for reinforcements in the upcoming transfer window, amid Spurs’ poor run of form.
However, during Sky Sports’ live coverage on Wednesday night, Redknapp suggested the Italian has made plenty of signings since joining Tottenham but admitted the squad ‘needs depth’.

The former Spurs midfielder said: ‘The way that Tottenham are, if you start asking for more money, it doesn’t always work in the best way.
‘He wants to win. He wants more funds. But he’s spent good money there. Bentancur, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Bissouma, Perisic, Romero.
‘He has spent money on some very good players. I think he just wants a bit more depth to the squad.’
During their recent 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa, Tottenham had just Ryan Sessegnon and Emerson Royal to turn to in the way of attacking options on the bench.
It was only this week that the Italian coach admitted he would walk away from Tottenham if he cannot come to terms with managing a club still not ready to contest the biggest prizes.

Despite recent concerns, Conte insisted he is ‘really committed’ to Spurs however is yet to extend his contract at the club.
The Italian’s current deal expires at the end of this season, although there is an option for a further year.
Conte has so far stalled on accepting a new contract after holding talks with Spurs chiefs during the World Cup.
