Real Madrid have launched their new home kit for the 2021-22 season – but club captain Sergio Ramos was missing from the photoshoot amid doubts over his future.
The 35-year-old defender’s contract expires at the end of this month with no agreement between Real and their captain in sight. Ramos has spent the last 16 seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu and scoring over 100 goals.
The Spaniard was not chosen by the LaLiga giants to front their new jersey for the new season, with Karim Benzema, Marcelo, Marco Asensio and Casemiro being chosen for the shoot.

Fede Valverde, Vinicius and former Chelsea winger Eden Hazard also posed for images of them in the new training kit, which is linked to the home jersey.
Members of Real Madrid’s women’s team – who finished second in the Spanish top-flight behind Barcelona this season – also adorned the new kit, which has blue and orange stripes alongside the traditional Los Blancos white.
The kit also contains the club motto ‘This is greatness’ on the shirt, which also contains references to the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, which is still under redevelopment.

Real claim the kit ‘is designed to reflect the spirit and sense of unity of the club with its fans’ while the design ‘symbolises the community of the Madridistas’ via the spiral graphics on the shirt.
Reports on Monday claimed club captain Ramos is set for a meeting with Real president Florentino Perez on Friday to discuss a new contract.
The 35-year-old is reportedly looking for a new two-year deal but the LaLiga giants are unwilling to budge from their club policy of rolling one-year deals for players over the age of 30.

Real face competition for Ramos’ signature next season as Manchester City are reportedly willing to offer the defender a two-year contract at the Etihad Stadium, with manager Pep Guardiola admiring the veteran’s leadership abilities.
The Premier League side lost Eric Garcia on Tuesday morning after the young defender completed a move to Barcelona, with fellow centre-back Aymeric Laporte reportedly unhappy about his game time this season in Manchester.
Ramos would reportedly be offered a two-year deal at the Etihad Stadium with the option of either a third year should performances be of an acceptable level, or a move to City’s MLS sister club New York City FC.

The centre-back has spent the last 16 seasons in the Spanish capital with Real and has led them to five LaLiga titles, four Champions League trophies and four more Club World Cups.
But the veteran defender has struggled with several long-term injuries over the course of the season, which forced Spain manager Luis Enrique to leave him out of the country’s European Championship squad for the summer.
Ramos played 21 times for Real this season due to the injury setbacks, as Los Blancos finished the 2020-21 campaign as LaLiga runners-up and Champions League semi-finalists to Chelsea.
