Rashford giving ‘mates’ rates deal’ to bankrupt Man Utd hero Wes Brown
Man Utd boss Ten Hag discusses Rashford’s position
Marcus Rashford is reportedly helping out cash-strapped former Manchester United star Wes Brown by renting him a property at a cut-price rate. Brown, 43, spent almost 20 years on the books at Old Trafford but ran into financial trouble after retirement.
In and around the Red Devils’ first team from 1996 to 2011, Brown was present for the majority of the dominant Sir Alex Ferguson era. He left United after racking up more than 350 appearances, finishing his career with stints at Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers and Kerala Blasters.
Having hung up his boots, Brown reportedly owed six figures to HMRC and ‘just a few thousand pounds’ to a car company, with two creditors successfully lobbying for him to be made bankrupt.
He is thought to have lost millions in failed property deals, shattering the personal fortune he had amassed while banking £50,000-a-week under Fergie. A ‘costly divorce’ from his former partner, who featured on Real Housewives of Cheshire, is also thought to have played its part.

The 43-year-old has since received support from former team-mates. According to The Mail on Sunday, both Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney have offered their support, and Rashford has taken things one step further.
The in-form forward, who supposedly banks £200,000-a-week under Erik ten Hag, is letting Brown one of his luxurious properties in a ‘mates’ rates’ arrangement.

Rashford spent six years on the books at United while the former Three Lions defender was still in the senior ranks, although he did not break into the first team until four years after he had left for Sunderland.
While Rashford’s reputation for generosity gathers momentum off the pitch, things are still going well on it as he continues to score at an impressive rate for United, with his 29-goal haul in all competitions already a career best.
Despite starting through the middle, he couldn’t add to that tally on Sunday against Aston Villa, who kept things tight at Old Trafford but came away with a 1-0 defeat thanks to Bruno Fernandes’ winner.
