Ranieri does it again as ex-Leicester boss leads Cagliari to promotion aged 71

Claudio Ranieri has achieved another miracle after the Tinkerman took Cagliari back into Serie A at 71-years-old.

Ranieri is best remembered for his incredible achievement at Leicester City, when he defied the odds to win the Premier League in 2016. And now back in his native Italian, Ranieri has conquered the second tier, via the play-offs.

Cagliari, who had become something of a Serie A mainstay over the past decade, dropped out of the top tier last season. Ranieri took over on New Year's Day, leading them to the play-offs, where they booked their Serie A spot with a win against Bari in the final.

Ranieri wept on the pitch after the full-time whistle, and he had to be helped up by coaches as the reality of their achievement started to sink in.

It's not the first time Ranieri has led Cagliari to promotion, and at the start of his managerial career, back in 1988, the Tinkerman took over the side.

And Ranieri led Cagliari to back-to-back promotions, landing them in Serie A for the first time in almost a decade. Ranieri made a name for himself with the achievement, going on to have a storied career that has now come full circle.

Needless to say, fans were delighted for the veteran boss on social media. One wrote: "Ranieri is an absolute legend of the game." As another said: "The Tinkerman strikes again. An inspired substitution as Leonardo Pavoletti comes off the bench to send Cagliari back to Serie A at the first attempt. Ranieri is quite the legend in Sardinia."

A third added: "Ranieri is a legend . A miracle man." While a fourth user commented: "The Don Ranieri forever a legend!"

However, Cagliari's win was Bari's heartache – especially because adult star Coyote Cutee had promised to give fans a striptease should her beloved Bari make it back into Italy's top tier.

Speaking to Daily Star Sport earlier this season, Coyote joked that she has “plans to do a striptease if Bari goes to Serie A".

Coyote is known for getting her bum at Bari games, and she has often defended her actions: "As a woman, I feel free to show my body when I want and how I want. It's my choice. I create content for OnlyFans and then sell it. I do everything myself. I don't consider myself a porn star."
