Ralf Rangnick tells Man Utd fan outside stadium plans for Jesse Lingard’s future

Ralf Rangnick has revealed the plans for Jesse Lingard's future to a Manchester United fan outside Old Trafford.

The German coach's arrival gave Lingard renewed hope of getting back into the Red Devils starting XI, but that has not materialised in the weeks since.

The attacker was therefore open to leaving the club on loan in the January transfer window ahead of assessing his options upon his contract expiry at the end of the season.

However, United have blocked an approach from Newcastle, leaving Lingard in limbo again.

But one thing is for sure – he will be leaving his boyhood club this summer, because Rangnick has confirmed it.

In a TikTok video user PhezTheRed recorded the United manager signing autographs outside the Theatre of Dreams, presumably after their recent win over West Ham.

The supporter tells him: "Ralf, we can't sell Lingard man. Please, he's my favourite player. He's got United in his head."

Rangnick then looked up and replied: "He will leave in the summer."

The video cuts off after that, so whether Rangnick added to that claim is unknown.

Is Rangnick at fault for Lingard leaving? Let us know in the comments section.

Lingard has had just eight minutes of action this month and is rightly concerned about his position in the England squad for the World Cup later this year.

It makes little sense that his current club want to keep hold of him and he is reportedly angry and feeling disrespected that he's not being let go.

United are said to be concerned they may be a player light if that were to happen, with Anthony Martial already gone and Donny van de Beek possibly joining Crystal Palace.

Another reason behind United’s reluctance to lose Lingard at this point is the fact that a loan does not suit them at all.

If they are to let him go now they would want to secure a fee for him instead of losing him on a free in the summer.

Lingard is not interested in a permanent exit just yet, meaning both parties are at a standoff.

West Ham are still in the running for his signature, but Newcastle would offer United more cash.
