Ralf Rangnick left in the dark over Manchester United transfers
Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick admits he ‘doesn’t know’ if members of his first-team squad will be sold before the transfer window closes next week.
The German has held one-on-one chats with every member of the dressing room since his appointment in December and the likes of Donny van de Beek, Dean Henderson, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial have all told Rangnick that they want to leave the club.
Rangnick has admitted on several occasions that the squad he’s inherited is bloated and he takes an unemotional approach to transfer requests, insisting that any player can leave if the club’s requirements are met.
However, he admits he’s been left in the dark over the futures of several players, with Rangnick unsure who is coming or going with seven days left of the window.
Asked about outgoings in the next week, Rangnick said: ‘I don’t know. I know which players would want to leave.
‘I know that there are some negotiations with clubs but I am not involved in that. I will probably be posted and made aware if something is happening.’
United’s victory against West Ham on Saturday helped the club into the top four and Arsenal’s draw against Burnley, together with Spurs’ loss at Chelsea, meant the Red Devils remained in position at the end of the weekend.
It’s the first time since October that United have been in one of the Champions League qualifying positions.
Rangnick’s side now have an 18-day break before their next Premier League fixture, though they return on February 4th for an FA Cup tie against Middlesbrough.
