PSG wear special edition kit to celebrate Lionel Messi’s seventh Ballon d’Or

PSG will wear a special kit on Sunday evening to celebrate Lionel Messi's seventh Ballon d'Or win.

To celebrate his win the Parisian side will have their names and number covered in gold, instead of the usual white, when they face AS Monaco in their Ligue 1 clash.

Messi won his seventh Ballon d'Or last month as he fought off competition from Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski and Chelsea's Jorginho.

Messi was front and centre for Argentina's Copa America triumph over the summer.

And he made headlines again a couple of weeks later with his teary goodbye to Barcelona when he switched to Paris.

Football fans were vocal about their opinion of Messi winning the award, with some fans suggesting Lewandowski should have been handed the accolade.

Lewandowski, himself, admitted: “I felt sadness. I can't deny it.

“I can't say I was happy, on the contrary. I have a feeling of sadness.
