Mbappe’s lucrative contract takes up a quarter of the team’s total budget – meaning PSG will struggle to add reinforcements to their team, according to Sport.

Additionally, Mbappe’s new contract is having a knock-on effect to his team-mates and the staff members that are currently employed by the club.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, PSG made several salary reductions and some of those cuts are still in place today despite Mbappe’s summer raise.

Mbappe’s contract is said to include several clauses, but no performance bonuses such as for Champions League or Ballon d’Or wins.

One of those clauses includes a £156million signing bonus, payable over three years that will be paid in full even if the player leaves.

He will also receive a £61million loyalty bonus to be collected at the end of the season that will increase every year, according to reports.

Then finally, the contract is said to have an option of a two year extension that can be triggered only by the player himself.
