Premier League’s most pessimistic fans confirmed – with Man Utd the ‘most loyal’

The Premier League's most pessimistic fans have been revealed as Manchester United are named the "most loyal" in the league.

New data produced by Ladbrokes Fanzone has found the percentage of punters that have bet against their own team in the Premier League this season. The research found that Crystal Palace have the most pessimistic supporters in the top flight this season, with 37% of their fanbase betting against the club.

Palace are currently embroiled in the relegation battle despite being 12th in the table, with just three points separating them from the relegation zone.

Patrick Vieira was sacked as manager last week and has now been replaced by Roy Hodgson, who has returned to Selhurst Park until the end of the season. He joins with the club winless in 12 league matches and after losing each of their last four.

Hodgson is not writing Palace off in the relegation battle, though, telling the club's website: "Crystal Palace is known for its fighting spirit, and I have no doubt that all our supporters will fight with us, beginning with the visit of Leicester City a week Saturday."

A Ladbrokes spokesperson explained: "Crystal Palace are only heading in one direction at the moment, and there's plenty of gloomy punters around South London who are, at least, cashing in on their side's continuous woes."
