Premier League injuries: Every Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal absentee as 91 players out

Arsenal: Arteta provides Martinelli injury update

Injuries to Premier League players have become more frequent this season due to the more congested fixture schedule. The coronavirus pandemic postponed professional football during the last campaign, which has had a knock-on effect in the 2020/21 season, with the calendar even more condensed than usual.

Unsurprisingly, this has led to more muscular injuries for the players, with some being forced to play three times a week at some stages of the campaign.

Liverpool have had well documented problems so far, with Jurgen Klopp losing his first-choice centre-back partnership of Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk to serious knee injuries.

Other teams, including Leicester City, have also had their fair share of absentees, meaning Brendan Rodgers has really had to stretch his squad.

Like everyone else, footballers have also had to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, which has also contributed to the number of players available each week.

On a positive note, it has seen the emergence of a few academy prospects, who have been given more opportunities to shine for their clubs.

With the games still coming thick and fast, here is a look at the number of players currently stuck on the sidelines for each team, according to Premier Injuries, as we head into gameweek 18 of the Premier League calendar.
