Manchester United have confirmed the departure of midfielder Paul Pogba for a second time as he contract expires at the end of the month.

The Red Devils confirmed that Pogba would be leaving the club with a statement on Wednesday afternoon. The end of the statement read: "Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Paul on his successful career, and thank him for his contributions to Manchester United. We wish him all the best for the next steps on a remarkable journey."

Pogba will now leave United for a second time, having previously left in 2012, also on a free transfer, when Juventus came calling. The Frenchman next destination remains unknown, but he's been heavily linked with a return to the Old Lady.

Pogba had initially joined the Red Devils as a 16-year-old when he moved from the famous Le Harve academy in France.

And despite showing early promise, he was unable to break into Sir Alex Ferguson's side, leading him to an early exit. Pogba went from strength-to-strength at Juve, and Europe's top sides were all keeping tabs on the youngster.

However, he elected to return to United in 2016 for £94million.

Pogba's second stint at United as ultimately been a failure, and the Frenchman has struggled to deliver on his lofty price tag.

Alongside the managerial merry-go-round, Pogba has found his midfield partners often chopped and changed, and more recently he's found himself out of the squad entirely. Under Ralf Rangnick, Pogba has hardly been a feature for United.

There have been glimpses of his talents, particularly on international duty, where he led France to the World Cup in 2018.

United's statement also read: "It was a low-key end to a United career that had brought so many individual high moments, so many beautiful goals, assists and pieces of skill."

Pogba has also been linked with a return to Juventus, but a return to France in the form of PSG could also be on the cards.
