Piers Morgan doubles down on Ronaldo to Arsenal hopes by snubbing Bukayo Saka
Piers Morgan has named the front line he would like to see at Arsenal next season – and it does not include Bukayo Saka.
Arsenal fan Morgan has consistentlycalled forthe Gunners to sign Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer transfer window. The 37-year-old forward has scored 24 goals in 38 games for Manchester United this season and Morgan believes he would be the right fit for Mikel Arteta’s young side.
Arsenal have won their last four Premier League matches to take control of fourth place. That run of victories has seen Eddie Nketiah shine up front, with Gabriel Martinelli on the left and Saka on the right.
Saka is Arsenal’s top scorer this season, with 12 goals and six assists in 40 appearances in all competitions this season. Yet the 20-year-old England star does not make it into Morgan’s hypothetical line-up for the 2022/23 campaign.
The controversial talk show hosttweeted: “I’d be very happy if Arsenal’s forward line next season was @gabimartinelli @EddieNketiah9 and @Cristiano – perfect mix of youth, pace & GOAT class talent/experience. And to those who don’t think Ronaldo would come to us, why wouldn’t he? He nearly joined us when he was 18.”
This is far from the first time Morgan has advocated for Ronaldo to join Arsenal. Speaking totalkSPORTlast month he explained his reasoning. “If you combined the United talent with our mentality, both clubs would be sorted,” he said. “I'd love, I'm not even joking, to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Arsenal. If he's not going to stay at United, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

"I watched that game at the weekend and he was the best player on the pitch. As a striker, when you watch Ronaldo's movement and his goalscoring record, even at 37, I'd put Ronaldo at the front and let these kids learn from him.
"I don't feel like there's that respect for Ronaldo from those younger United players. I think that the egos are writing cheques that the lack of trophies doesn't cash, and my message to all those young United stars is that you're talented, but your egos are out of control and you should be begging Ronaldo for advice.
"If you had even a tenth of his work ethic, his ability, his success and his trophies, all around the world then you'd be much better than you are now, but there's an arrogance there about those players which we don't have at Arsenal."
