Piers Morgan has urged Arsenal to try to sign Cristiano Ronaldo if the Portuguese superstar is booted out of Manchester United this summer.
The TV personality, who has consistently criticised Mikel Arteta and his decision to allow Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to leave in January, wants the Gunners to move for Ronaldo to bring in star quality amid their current problems in front of goal. Arteta’s men have lost their last three games in the Premier League and have scored just once.
Club legend Ian Wright spoke about how his former club are lacking a player that can decide results after squandering several chances in their 1-0 defeat to Southampton. The result leaves Arsenal four points behind Tottenham after they missed the chance to capitalise on Spurs’ shock defeat at home to Brighton.
And former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan appeared to agree with Wright, stating on his official Twitter account that his team should do everything they can to sign Ronaldo in the upcoming transfer window. The 57-year-old even offered to prepare a shirt for the veteran striker.
"Arsenal should sign Ronaldo this summer," he tweeted to his 7.9 million followers. "I’m deadly serious. That would solve our striker problem and help me move on from Aubameyang. I’ve already sorted (Ronaldo) a shirt.”
Whether or not Arsenal could afford Ronaldo’s wages is another matter. He is currently the highest earner in the Premier League on a contract worth £475,000-a-week and would surely require Champions League football if he were to make a mind-blowing move to the capital.

But he might be worth the trouble. Ronaldo scored his 60th career hat-trick and second this season with a magnificent treble against Norwich, leading the Red Devils to a 3-2 win over rock-bottom club Norwich City. Those goals mean that only Mohamed Salah has scored more goals than his 15 in the league this season.
Morgan may well be in luck with his plea to snap up Ronaldo, with reports suggesting that incoming Man United boss Erik ten Hag doesn't fancy having the 37-year-old in his squad next season. The Dutchman is set to take over as their new permanent boss at Old Trafford and will apparently look to offload Ronaldo
"It's not my decision," Rangnick told reporters. "Cristiano has another year of contract. It’s a decision for the new manager to take with the board. He showed today and against Tottenham he can be the difference maker in games like this and It's no coincidence he has the best goal scoring record of all players in history."
