Piers Morgan attacks Leeds stars in sweary post as fans blanked again

Arteta admits ‘better team won’ as Arsenal lose at Man City

Piers Morgan has hit out at Leeds United’s players for acting like ‘selfish p****s’ after appearing to ignore their own fans who had waited for them before their heavy defeat to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Leeds supporters lined up waiting to greet their players with young children seen in the footage, but they were snubbed by their underachieving stars as they headed to the team bus.

Javi Gracia’s side are in grave danger of being relegated from the Premier League after their 4-1 loss on the South Coast, with Patrick Bamford’s goal proving to be nothing more than a consolation – and their problems only continued after the game.

A clip was uploaded to Twitter on Sunday appearing to show the players walking towards the team bus with fans eagerly hoping to snag a picture or autograph with their heroes. Instead, Leeds players left them disappointed by dealing a brutal snub as none of the squad members stopped to acknowledge their support.

The footage focuses in on a young boy who looks up in hope to some players, but is then given the cold shoulder by the players who walk past him without looking his way.

The majority of the Leeds squad were wearing headphones and using their phones as they avoided eye contact and headed for the door. A security guard then moved in front of the fence, blocking the opportunity for fans to get close to them.

And Morgan was left seething by the incident as the TV presenter blasted the Yorkshire club’s flops for failing to show gratitude to the fans that wasted their tine waiting for them. He quote-tweeted a fan account that had posted the footage and blasted the Leeds players in a tweet to his 8.4 million followers, calling them “selfish arrogant p****s.”

While Morgan is renowned for holding controversial views on the social media platform, few would disagree with the TalkTV presenter on this occasion and Leeds fans were left furious with the way those were treated in the video.

Gracia is facing growing calls to be sacked just two months after replacing Jesse Marsch with Leeds sliding towards the Championship. They are now just one point above the relegation zone in 16th following their defeat at Bournemouth and could drop further down the table as Leicester and Everton have a game in hand.

Club owner Andrea Radriazzani admitted he is “responsible for this s***”, as supporters that travelled to Bournemouth turned on the players, accusing them of not being worthy of playing for the club.

And judging by their demeanour before the game, it seems those chants have created some tension between the fans and players.

It comes just a fortnight after Arsenal were targeted for criticism for failing to engage properly with one of their mascots, who had been eager to meet the players in the tunnel.

As the young girl looked up in admiration at the players, they simply signed the shirt and many did not make eye contact as they signed the shirt. Morgan had called on the players to engage with the girl, saying: “Come on guys, at least one of you say hello to her?!!”

However, it later emerged that the footage had been edited and the players had spent some time with the mascot and her father earlier on in the day, with Mikel Arteta jumping to the defence of his players.
