Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang arrives in Spain to complete Barcelona transfer

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has touched down in Spain to complete a loan move to La Liga giants Barcelona.

The 32-year-old has been told to find a new club after falling out with Mikel Arteta, who stripped the striker of the club captaincy in December after Aubameyang’s latest disciplinary breach.

Aubameyang hasn’t featured for the club since and he had offers on the table from Saudi Arabia to leave the Gunners on a permanent deal.

However, with 18 months to run on his contract at the Emirates, Aubameyang preferred a loan move and his preference was to stay in Europe as he feels he still has much to offer at the highest level.

Aubameyang’s departure leaves Arsenal short in attack, with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette the club’s only recognised strikers.

The Gunners failed with a move for Dusan Vlahovic, who joined Juventus in a £67m deal last week.

Real Sociedad ace Alexander Isak is another target but the club are not willing to listen to offers for the Swede, who has a £74.7m release clause in his contract.
