Oleksandr Zinchenko has posted an Instagram farewell to Manchester City moments before his move to Premier League rivals Arsenal was confirmed.

The Ukrainian, 25, joined City in 2016 and became a key part of Pep Guardiola’s team during the past few seasons, playing an influential role in the club winning countless honours.

Posting his farewell on social media, Zinchenko captioned the video ‘forever in my heart’ with the clip containing various bits of footage of notable moments from Zinchenko’s career in the north-west.

Oleksandr Zinchenko thanked Manchester City in a farewell video ahead of his Arsenal move

City and Zinchenko, in the same manner as the sales of Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling, reached an amicable agreement over his departure and he leaves the club on good terms.

The video, narrated by Zinchenko himself, begins with news reels from 2016 announcing the arrival of the ’19-year-old teenage sensation’ in 2016.

Zinchenko declares his time at City a ‘great journey’ at the start of the clip, that is typically backed by an instrumental version of Oasis’s Wonderwall.

‘I joined the family when I was very young,’ he continues. The clip displays some early moments of his career at City, including his debut and his first goal for the club, a cross/shot effort in the early rounds of the League Cup.

The Ukrainian enjoyed a glittering spell with the club – including winning four league titles

‘You all immediately believed in me,’ he continues. ‘Well, almost immediately,’ he then quips, in a likely reference to Guardiola not playing the midfielder from the very start of his career at the club.

Displaying the sheer number of honours he won during his time with City, the farewell video then becomes a bit of a reel of all of the trophies. Including four Premier League titles, one FA Cup and four League Cups.

Zinchenko also featured in the Champions League final defeat by Chelsea at the end of the 2020-21 season.

Zinchenko was influential in City claiming their fourth title under Pep Guardiola last season

‘We won trophies,’ he says. ‘We became stronger after defeats,’ he then adds next to a clip of him passing the European Cup on that heartbreaking night for City in Porto.

Significantly, Zinchenko’s last competitive action for the club was his role in the comeback against Aston Villa on the final day of last season.

Zinchenko was introduced with his side 2-0 down and staring down the barrel of an ignominious defeat to Steven Gerrard’s team. As it was, his run and cut back for Ilkay Gundogan set the wheels in motion for an astonishing City comeback.

‘You supported me in the most difficult moment of my life,’ the Ukrainian goes on, in reference to Russia’s invasion of his home country.

‘Thank you all, Manchester City. With love,’ the video concludes.

The video also notes the hard times for him and the club, including their 2021 Champions League final defeat to Chelsea in Porto
