O’Hara calls Spurs ‘bang average’ after claiming they’d ‘won transfer window’

Jamie O'Hara has slammed Tottenham Hotspur just months after claiming they had won the summer transfer window.

Spurs slumped to a 2-1 loss to high-flying Newcastle United on Sunday evening – a result which saw Antonio Conte's side fall further behind Manchester City and Arsenal. And the former Spurs man hit out his former "bang average side" in an explosive rant.

He told talkSPORT: "We've been found out – the squad's bang average; if it ain't for Son Heung-min and Harry Kane, then it's a really, really, average side. The new signings have come in and they haven't really kicked on!"

O'Hara continued: "Ivan Perisic, I'm not really convinced with, you know, Yves Bissouma has been really average or even poor in a way. And you know Djed Spence hasn't even been given an opportunity, so we've been found out."

The former Spurs man's scathing comments come just months after he was signing the praises of Spurs and their new signings.

Ahead of the season, he told Sky Sports News: "We've won the transfer window, we have. That's the first trophy we've had in 15 years is winning the transfer window."

Conte told fans after the defeat that Spurs need "time and patience and, also for sure, money."

He added: "When I spoke before I always said look, we have just started the process for Tottenham to bring Tottenham into the best position to be more competitive to fight for something important, we have just started.

"For this reason we need to cope with this situation. For me it is not easy, it is not simple but we have to cope and to manage the situation with experience and stay together."

Tottenham remain fourth in the Premier League following their setback at home to Newcastle, five points adrift of local rivals and league leaders Arsenal.
